Welcoming you to The Merrion Hotel means welcoming you to a tradition of hospitality that dates back more than 250 years, to the days when these elegant buildings hosted the friends, families and guests of their Georgian hey days. We want to make sure that the time you spend with us is both sustainable, and exceptional. Extending hospitality with a clear conscience, our environmental measures encompass all aspects of your stay.

In the Garden Room Restaurant, you will find seasonal menus, using locally sourced ingredients. Executive Chef, Ed Cooney has built up established relationships with Ireland’s artisan producers and growers, designing his menus around their best ingredients. This reduces food miles, supports local and organic makers, and helps to preserve, and develop our food heritage for the future. Meat is 100% Irish, and fish is from sustainable sources, as are our teas and coffees. Vegan alternatives are highlighted all year long. Closer still to home, there are beehives on the hotel roof, providing honey, and protecting a tribe of pollinators for the city’s gardeners and growers.

    

Your luxurious Hotel Rooms and Suites now include subtle, yet effective changes. You’ll find single use toiletries have been replaced by gorgeous products in larger containers, giving you the same level of In-Room Spa Experience and at the same time cutting down on huge amounts of plastic waste. Our attention to detail even extends to the writing materials you’ll find at your desk. We are replacing pens with Merrion Hotel pencils, but do rest assured, if you need a pen, just ask us.

Recycling has been ramped up, and our entire team is dedicated to ensuring that, from towels to glass bottles, paper, batteries and more, the things you use during your stay with us are taken care of with the ideal balance of your comfort, and the health of the environment in mind. Laundry is done at 30° with machines designed to make sure that everything is completely clean. The Merrion Hotel is centrally situated in the heart of Georgian Dublin, close to shops, galleries, concert halls and theatres. This makes your stay a walkable pleasure. If our Valet parks your electric car, it will be returned fully charged at one of our EV points. There is also the option of our complimentary Merrion bikes to explore the city on!

Continuing the good work: our annual Environment Plan is coupled with regular hospitality checks, and training refresher courses make sure we stay on top of our goals. We aim to continue to reduce per-room carbon emissions still further, reaching a 66% reduction by 2030. New team members complete a Green induction programme, and our recycling rate is currently 79%. We are working to improve this all the time. Our Green Team, made up of staff members across departments, makes sure that everyone is invested in staying on track.
