At the Merrion, preparations are in full swing as we look forward to opening our Georgian doors once more, and to doing what we do best – welcoming you back.
Although strange and difficult, the past months have seen the people of Ireland come together in a way that has given us all cause to feel proud. Last March, as the Merrion family separated to be part of the national effort to keep us all safe, we, like everyone else in Ireland, wondered when we would see one another again.
As things have begun to open up again, we, like you, have been thinking of all the things we have missed the most. Maybe it’s the deep comfort of The Drawing Rooms. Perhaps it’s that home away from home feeling in the heart of the City, or the sense of luxury you get from a decadent treat. Could it be the surprise first taste of a new dish in The Garden Room, or the mellow moment after a first sip in No. 23? Or a moment of sunshine at an outside table in the Garden Terrace. We have been thinking of all these, and more.
And that is because hospitality is what we do: hospitality and the very deep level of care are what we have always prided ourselves on. So, in gentle celebration of the moment we open our doors again, we have been working hard to put the finishing touches to a Merrion Hotel that is warm, welcoming, elegant and safe.
And we think you’ll like it very much.
In many ways this is simply an extension of what we have always done. The five star levels of personal attention, and attention to detail that our guests have come to expect and love, lend themselves to the small, and larger shifts in how we make your stay special. Yes, it’s true, we won’t be greeting you with a handshake just now, but the smile and the service are as warm and genuine as ever.
From the moment you arrive, and led by a team of experts, we have gone through every element of your visit. Your daily newspaper? It is single-use and uniquely yours. Your room? Where possible, it will have been waiting for you for twenty four hours in advance of your visit. And if that time is shorter for any reason, we have invested in phenomenally effective cleaners that work to fully cleanse the environment for you.
You’ll notice some changes in the layout of the furniture too. This is to guarantee you intimacy and distance, so you can carry on your conversations in comfort (and confidentiality)! Other changes that you probably won’t notice are all behind the scenes, as our team work to make sure they, and you stay happy, healthy and well. Planning routes and circulation through the background areas of the hotel has been a little like choreographing a ballet, but it has had the seal of approval, and we’re very proud of what we have achieved.
What else can you expect? The swimming pool is open: book your slot, and you’ll have plenty of space. You can also book spa treatments, as our highly trained therapists will be wearing state of the art PPE. Pre-book your breakfast time too, to make sure you’re shown straight to your table. In fact, some of the changes may make things move even more smoothly.
For more than twenty years, The Merrion has been looking after our guests, welcoming them through our elegant Georgian doors, and bidding them goodbye refreshed and happy, with fond memories on all sides. It means the world to us to be able to welcome you back, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
