A Merrion Walk in The Wild Wicklow Mountains
February 2007
The Merrion Hotel, Dublin's best address, is delighted to announce the 'Footfalls Package'. Guests can now combine luxury with adventure and explore the stunning Wicklow Mountains of Glendalough by day and Ireland's charismatic capital by night!
The Merrion has partnered with Footfalls Walking Holidays to offer guests an active one or two day escape. Stomachs will be lined with a full Irish breakfast served in the early hours and a jeep will pick walkers up at 9am. The picturesque Wicklow Mountains lie an hour's drive from Dublin and the walks tend to begin and end in the charming valley of Glendalough.
The all-inclusive trek is between seven and nine miles long and travels at a moderate but sustained pace. Walkers have the chance to take in the incredible and diverse scenery and the expert mountain guide, Christopher Stacey, is only too happy to discuss Irish folklore, natural history and wildlife. A substantial home-made packed lunch is provided en-route and all treks finish in a cosy country pub, with time to unwind before returning to the city. Guests are provided with a raincoat, waterproof trousers, hiking-boots, hat and gloves.
Upon their return to the hotel, guests can either explore Dublin by night or soothe tired muscles in The Merrion's Tethra Spa followed by a fabulous meal in one of the hotel's restaurants, before retiring to bed in a Garden Wing room.
The total price for the package is €660 (approx £445) per couple for a two-night stay and €385 (approx £260) for a one night stay, inclusive of full Irish Breakfast and the trek. The package is available until 30th November 2007 and is subject to availability. This package is inclusive of value added tax and there is no service charge at The Merrion.
