Families can enjoy 50% off a second room during July and August
This summer, it's all about families at The Merrion, Dublin's most luxurious five-star hotel, which welcomes children with special savings on a second room, kid-friendly amenities and great recommendations on places to see and activities to do throughout the city. In fact, The Merrion guarantees children will not be at a loss for material when it's time to write their "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" essay.
The "Family Fun" package is priced at €585 per night and includes luxury accommodation for up to two adults and two children in The Merrion's interconnecting deluxe double and twin rooms, full Irish breakfast daily, as well as welcome cocktails for adults and welcome 'mocktails' for children. Children under 12 years of age may share a room with their parents on a rollaway bed for €50 including breakfast. This offer is valid through July and August 2006, inclusive of VAT at 13.5% and there is no service charge.
As part of The Merrion's special welcome for children, the hotel offers its "Miss & Master Merrion" program which features a variety of amenities including an in-room snack on the first night of arrival, a specially tailored room service menu, children's dinnerware, and pint-sized Frette robes and slippers. Babysitting services as well as an array of supplies are also available including monitors, nappies, bottle warmers and children's bathroom amenities.
When it comes time to explore outside, families have a lot to see and do. Steps away children can feed the ducks in St. Stephen's Green, frolic on the playground in nearby Merrion Square or explore the shops and restaurants along Grafton Street (just five minutes from the hotel). Other good attractions for children include the Dublin Zoo, which is approximately 15 minutes from the hotel; Malahide Castle (40 minutes from The Merrion) which has a wonderful miniature railway for children and the Lambert Puppet Theatre which is approximately 35 minutes away.
One favorite in Dublin is the Viking Splash Tour that transports guests by amphibious vehicle around historic Dublin before chugging along the city's canals. Families can also hire a horse-drawn carriage to see the city or have the hotel pack a picnic lunch and take a trip through the scenic Wicklow Mountains which offer fantastic views of the coastline and impressive flora and fauna. The Merrion's concierge is more than happy to arrange any and all activities.
