Get Down and Dirty at The Merrion

The Merrion has teamed up with Dirty Boots Treks, Dublin's foremost mountain trekking company, to explore the scenic and remote mountains of Wicklow, located less than an hour's drive from the hotel on Ireland's East Coast.

The Dirty Boots Treks Package is a two-day break. Guests spend the first day at their leisure. Day two begins early. Guests have a hearty breakfast before pickup at 9 a.m. in a customized 4x4 Land Rover for transfer to the mountains, one hour away. (The trek can also be arranged for day one.)

The all-inclusive trek is between 7.5 miles to 9.3 miles at a moderate pace. Trekkers take in diverse scenery. The expert mountain guide discusses cultural heritage, natural history and wildlife of the region. A substantial homemade packed lunch and all gear including hiking boots are provided. Photos of the trek are available to download from the web. All treks finish in a cozy Irish country pub.

The total price of the package is €770 per couple for a two-night stay, inclusive of full Irish breakfast each morning and the trek. The package can be booked through November 25, 2006, subject to availability and inclusive of service charges and 13.5% VAT.
