Get Down and Dirty at The Merrion!

June 2005

Enjoy the best of both worlds with the launch of the Dirty Boots Treks Experience from The Merrion Hotel, starting in June 2005! The Merrion, Dublin's most celebrated hotel, stands statuesquely in the middle of Ireland's capital and has become the place to stay in the city. Now The Merrion has teamed up with Dirty Boots Treks, Dublin's foremost mountain trekking company, to give its guests the chance to explore the wild and remote mountains of Wicklow as part of a short break in Dublin.

The Dirty Boots Treks Experience is a two-day break. Guests spend the first day at their leisure, luxuriating at the beautiful Merrion, or strolling around Dublin taking in the sights. Day two begins early. Guests have a hearty breakfast before being picked up at nine am in a customised 4 x 4 Land Rover for transfer to the mountains. If guests prefer of course, the trek can also take place on day one too.

The all-inclusive trek is between 12 km - 15 km and travels at a moderate but sustained pace. Trekkers have the chance to take in the incredible and diverse scenery, and the expert mountain guide is only too happy to discuss the cultural heritage, natural history and wildlife of this wonderful region. A substantial home-made packed lunch is provided as well as all hiking gear. All treks finish in a cosy country pub, with time to unwind before returning to the city. Photographs of the trek are available to download from the web afterwards.

Upon their return to the hotel, guests may soothe any tired muscles in The Merrion's heavenly Tethra Spa and enjoy a fabulous meal in one of the hotel's restaurants, before retiring to bed to enjoy a well-earned night's sleep in a Deluxe Garden Wing room.

The total price for the experience is €620 per couple for a two-night stay, inclusive of full Irish Breakfast each morning and the trek. Guests preferring to stay at The Merrion for just one night pay €360 per couple inclusive of trek. The package is available until October 2005. These packages are inclusive of value added tax at 13.5% and there is no service charge at The Merrion. A range of other packages is also available at The Merrion.
