EXPERIENCE THE ROMANCE OF AN IRISH WEDDING

March 7, 2003

The Merrion Hotel Offers Georgian-Themed Wedding Receptions for an Affair to Remember

Dublin - Memorable occasions deserve very special surroundings, and the Georgian elegance of The Merrion Hotel provides a stunning backdrop for unforgettable wedding celebrations. A traditional Irish wedding ceremony in a nearby church or state registry office followed by a romantic reception at The Merrion is the perfect pairing for brides who dream of a blissful destination wedding.

The Merrion's private rooms feature original Georgian decoration, tapestries and paintings, a separate entrance with marbled hallways and beautifully landscaped gardens and terraces for cocktails and photographs.

The Merrion can accommodate complete wedding receptions for groups of 50 or a stand up reception for up to 120. A full time wedding coordinator ensures every element of the reception is attended to, overseeing essentials such as the flowers, cake, photographers, entertainment, table plans and, of course, the pre-wedding pampering at The Merrion's own Tethra Spa.

RECEPTIONS

The Merrion Hotel has a variety of beautifully appointed private rooms. Each of these grand, Georgian salons is decorated in a sumptuous style with intricate plasterwork, hand-woven carpets and antique furniture. The Merrion's impressive art collection is hung on the walls, setting a perfect scene for a special celebration.

The Merrion celebrates its authentic Georgian heritage, by offering couples the opportunity to experience a wedding reception in the Georgian spirit. The couple arrives at the hotel in a horse-drawn carriage and is greeted by footmen in traditional Georgian costume. Once inside the historic rooms of The Merrion, guests are serenaded by a string quartet and served Georgian specialties by staff dressed in period costume. Fine details including an antique writing desk for the guest book with quill and ink, period flower displays and actors dressed as the Duke of Wellington and Lady Mornington, transport guests to another time.

Tables are covered in Irish linen with the finest china, flowers and silverware at every setting. When celebrating at The Merrion Hotel, overnight accommodation is included for the bride and groom for one night.

PACKAGES

Whether getting married, or celebrating a wedding anniversary, The Merrion Hotel has the perfect package to delight a happy couple. A night of pure luxury in one of The Merrion's stunning double rooms will ensure such occasions become a lasting memory.

Both The Honeymoon Hideaway and the Anniversary Package are available on any night of the week and include full Irish breakfast, a bottle of champagne on arrival and a special gift for each couple prior to departure. Prices may vary. Please contact The Merrion for additional details.

Located in the heart of Dublin, The Merrion opened in October 1997, built from a row of historic 18th century Georgian townhouses. This 145-room hotel includes 20 suites, all of which are fitted with the latest in-room technology. With its luxurious amenities and services, The Merrion ensures guests every ingredient to a successful stay. Visitors can wander through the celebrated 18th century-style gardens designed by Jim Reynolds, or survey the largest private collection of Irish art, displayed throughout the hotel. The Tethra Spa's beautifully muraled pool and elaborate fitness center are both sanctuaries for relaxation. The Merrion also features the renowned Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud with its two Michelin stars and the less formal Cellar Restaurant. Other dining options include The Cellar Bar located in the property's former wine vault and No. 23, a bar open exclusively for hotel guests.
