Dublin Hotel Scores Highest in Commitment to Quality Awards
Palm Beach, FLA. --- (Nov. 2) The Leading Hotels of the World announced at its annual convention here today that The Merrion Hotel in Dublin has received the Highest Score Overall in its third annual Commitment to Quality Awards.
The Merrion was measured against over 400 Leading member properties worldwide in recent anonymous inspections.
The Merrion, created from four magnificent 18th century Georgian townhouses in 1997, also received top honors in the European market, scoring highest as the best Leading Hotel of the World in Europe.
(Eleven additional hotels worldwide received best in market honors.)
The Commitment to Quality Awards recognize Leadings Hotels and Leading Small Hotels in five regions: Africa/Middle East, Asia, Europe, Mexico/Caribbean/South America and the United States. The winners are properties that receive the highest scores during their most recent Leading Hotels' anonymous inspections.
As the world's foremost authority for grading and inspecting hotels, The Leading Hotels of the World established the Commitment to Quality awards three years ago as the benchmark for luxury standards in the hospitality industry.
The accolade to the Merrion reflects its dedication to creating a special environment in the heart of Dublin, now undergoing a vibrant regeneration itself.
The Merrion, a 142-room property with 20 suites, is the home of the first hotel spa in Dublin, the Tethra Spa. It has a two-star Michelin restaurant, Patrick Guibaud, and is considered to be Dublin's most stylish and luxurious hotel. Two outstanding features are its private collection of contemporary art and its 18th century style landscaped period gardens.
"This award affirms our commitment to imparting the grace and elegance of the 18th century to our four important landmark buildings. This award is a tribute to the dedication of our highly experienced staff," said Peter MacCann, General Manager of The Merrion.
