GERMAN ROMANTICISM COMES TO THE MERRION HOTEL

October 2004

If you are a lover of art and the finer things in life, then why not spend a night at the luxurious Merrion Hotel and experience the ultimate in Irish hospitality and German Art.

To mark the arrival of "A German Dream " at the National Gallery of Ireland, the Merrion Hotel is offering an exclusive accommodation package in their select Garden Wing rooms for a special rate of €260 per room per night. This includes one night's stay in a superior queen room in the garden wing, full Irish breakfast, a copy of The Merrion Hotel's Art Catalogue and two complimentary tickets to "A German Dream" at the National Gallery of Ireland.

A German Dream is a collaboration of masterpieces of Romanticism from the Narionalgalerie Berlin and is the most important survey of German Romanticists ever to go on show in Dublin. Organised in association with the National Gallery of Ireland, the exhibition of the Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, takes place from October 16th 2004 to January 30th 2005, featuring some 60 masterpieces from the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin.

The selected works, covering the period 1800 to 1860, document the development of German Romantic painting, from portraits and idealized landscapes of the age of Geothe, to the passion, poetry and prose of late Romanticism. Among the artists represented are Caspar David Friedrich, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Carl Belchen and Moritz von Schwind. Bernhard Maaz edits the accompanying exhibition catalogue, with essays by Dr Birgit Verwiebe, Dr Brendan Rooney and Kristina Mosl.

This exclusive offers is valid from October 16th 04 - January 30th 05. This package is inclusive of VAT at 13.5% and there is no service charge.
