Visitors to Dublin will experience a wonderful journey into the life and times of author James Joyce with a special package from The Merrion in July and August.

Dublin has been alive with events and activities since the beginning of the ReJoyce festival in April to mark the centenary of Bloomsday, the day on which James Joyce's masterpiece Ulysses is set. The Joyce Heartland walk, available exclusively as part of The Merrion package, visits the places where Joyce spent his formative years and where his central character, Leopold Bloom, made his historic journey through Dublin on 16th June 1904.

This guided walking tour includes the author's first homes on Hardwick Street and Fontenoy Street, Belvedere College and St Francis Xavier's of Gardiner Street. It also visits Mountjoy Square, the limit of the notorious 'Monto' of 'Nighttown' area where Joyce first strayed and where Leopold Bloom rescues Stephen Dedalus. Finally, the tour visits 7 Eccles Street, one of the most famous fictional addresses in all literature.

The Joycean Footsteps Package, which costs €130 (approx. GBP£88) per person sharing per night, is available for a two night minimum stay with accommodation in an award-winning double or twin room and full Irish breakfast. The package also includes the Joyce Heartland walking tour and a special gift of 'Classical Ulysses, a musical odyssey through James Joyce's masterpiece'. This classical CD features the work of many well renowned composers who are mentioned in the text of Ulysses, including Mozart, Handel, Bellini and Verdi. This offer is available in July and August 2004 only.

The Merrion is situated in the heart of Dublin city and is the prime location to enjoy the many elements of the ReJoyce Dublin festival, including parades, street parties, art installations around the city, the theatrical Bloomsday ball, an international literary symposium, and various art and photographic exhibitions.
