The Merrion, considered Dublin’s most prestigious hotel is delighted to announce the return of their tasting season which will take place during the month of November, set against to the backdrop of the warm intimate surroundings of the hotel’s No.23 bar. Three bespoke tasting evenings have been designed and will focus on a different drink each evening including Whiskey, Cognac and Port with each tasting accompanied by perfectly paired delectable canapés created by the hotel’s Executive Head Chef Ed Cooney.
Beginning Monday 9th November, whiskey connoisseurs can experience a luxury tasting, hosted by Master distiller, Brian Nation. From a unique flight consisting of Midleton Very Rare 2015, Powers Johns Lane and Redbreast Mano a Lámh to name but a few, guests will have the opportunity to discover the subtle differences between some the world’s most iconic whiskeys.
Cognac devotees will have their chance to explore the brandy world on the evening of Monday, 16th November. Jean Michel Cochet, the Ambassador de la Maison Hennessy will be on hand to share his knowledge of the Hennessy legacy and serve up delights of both neat drinks that include Hennessy Fine De Cognac and cocktails which involve the Fine De Cognac and a unique Elderflower essence specially prepared by the Hennessy Mixologist, Alan Kavanagh.
On Monday, 23rd November, port adherents will learn from Peter Dunne, the Director of Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants. Mr Dunne will showcase the famous Barao de Vilar Vintage 1999, Graham’s 20 year old Tawny and the elusive Cockburn’s Vintage 1963.
